Landfill gas is becoming a problematic asset to the modern landfill. Recognized by neighbors as an odor, identified by the United States Environmental Protection Agency as a Greenhouse Gas, and having an energy content of roughly 500 BTU per cubic foot. Landfill gas is being captured, collected and destroyed at an increasing number of landfills due to state regulatory requirements.
